CATCH UP PART II

FRENZY

Ok, so we all boarded the bus from the festival and headed back to the tiny airport here on the Faroe Islands. Last time we played here it took 2 days to actually find weather good enough to land!! This time its all a bit easier.

We board at about 2am, nice flight, lots of chat with Jeremy Camp and band, arrive in Edinburgh at around 4am, get to hotel about 5am, get to sleep about 6am, get up about 9am for soundcheck at 10am!! Booh!

We leave the hotel, blurry eyed and running on automatic pilot....this is normal!

Soundcheck is good, very excited about supporting open doors, an amazing organisation highliting the plight of the persecuted church.

Frenzy is a combination of playing, eating, sleeping, catching up with old friends, playing some more, meetings people at the merch table, watching other bands.....all good. It was a great day all round and I hope we get the chance to do it again in 2010.

Next time will be all about the Luis Palau Mission week and Festival.

THE LAST CRAZY 7 WEEKS

Greetings blog readers : )

It's been a while since our last post, so I will attempt to summary of the past 7 weeks!!

BUDAPEST

We had very amazing time in Budapest. The festival was outside, on a shopping mall roof terrace! It was a great venue for a festival and a good 3000 people came out the night we played. We had a few tech issues on the day, Mike's nord had been de-tuned a semi tone or something!! Bad news, Johnny pulled his lead out of his bass about 4 times and all in all it was a challenge. As for me ( tim ) I had an amazing time and loved every minute, as did Mike the drummer.

We preached the gospel hard and fast with about 200+ people responding to the call to salvation....AMAZING to see so many hands go up...Thank You God.

We traveled way south to the Croatian border the next day and played in a wee place called Pecs, where we had a great gig, more people saved that night and then drove straight back to Budapest, back to the hotel for a few hours kip, then to the airport 4 hours later and fly home. I lost my guitar pedals in Budapest airport and my guitar case also got badly smashed up...normal!

Frenzy / Faroe Islands

So, we enjoyed 3 days at home, then on Friday morning at about 4am we left for Edinburgh Private airfield where we met up with Jeremy Camp and his band and flew out to the Faroe Islands on....wait for it.....a private jet : )  I know, it's not very Superhero, but hey, it was a lot nicer than ryanair that is for sure!

So we met the pilot in the waiting area, boarded the plane with no real passport control stuff, just walked out onto the strip and got on the plane, so weird for us, we fly so often ( about 25 times a year ) and its always the same old same old.....but not today  : )

We had our own little stewardess and it was very cool. We arrived at about 12 noon and were taken in a bus for a look around the Islands, amazing amazing amazing!

Then to the festival venue, food, soundcheck, mucking about, setting up the merch, saying hi to friends we got to know the first time we played this festival and a wee sleep in the green room.

The gig was great, we played before JC and it was great crowd...again, more people, about 12 responded to the gospel. JC and band were great, and also, they were great people to hang out with.

We finished the concert at about 11pm and had a mad rush for merch, which was great, as we had to leave for the airport at 12 midnight to get back for FRENZY the next day.

Ok, thats enough for now....next time i'll tell you all about the flight home, Frenzy  etc etc.....

Checked in and slept till 7pm. Taken out to lovely bar for beer and food. No late nights tonight for Superhero ; ) straight back to hotel, bed! soundcheck is at 10.30am, checked out the stage earlier, its nicely massive, expect 5000/6000 people, so should be a lot of fun! Also playing are Planet Shakers! and Parachute band from NZ. Will be good to hang out with them a bit tomorrow.

So, were home, back in the UK, for a few days anyway! It's good to home and get to watch the Champions League Final tonight!

We're back to Glasgow International on Friday morning, heading out to Hugary for festivals in Budapest and Croatia. We have played in Hungary before early last year I think it was, a short tour, 4 gigs, which was a lot of fun, and, as it happens, the photo for this blogspot was taken during the gig at a club in Budapest on that tour.

We are there and in Cratioa until Monday, then home for a few more days until we fly out to the Faroe Islands with Jeremy Camp for a festival there and then it's straight back for Frenzy in Edinburgh. All good.

tonight was the last gig of the tour. Delta. PA. An amazing night, packed house, people travelled from a 50 mile radius to come see us play.

It was an amazing feeling to see and hear people, on mass, singing our songs back to us.

Aside from the gig, we had a great day at with our friends eating 'Maryland Steamed Crabs' drinking cold beer and firing off a musket!!

Well, were ready to go home now for sure, but it's been a great tour, the best yet, by far.

Thanks you God for all the lives touched and changed forever.

Back in Delta. PA.  We got in last night about 1am. Looking forward to the gig tonight, the last gig on this tour and I think its going to be the best. Were expecting a good turnout and it's great to see people again that we know and have become good friends with.

Were ready for home now, flying out from Washington on Monday. Thinking about this tour, how great it's been, how God has moved at the gigs, kids saved, healed, etc....

Weve made so much progress this month here in the US with meeting promoters, agents etc.....we probably wont ever sign up with anyone, but its good to have the contacts there.

We are also deep in talks with a record label who are partnered with Universal and on top of that I've started writing the new record, and couldn't be happier  : )

Ok, so we are now in Groton. We did our gig tonight, then went out for food.....the food was so bad! It was the worst food I have eaten for about 10 years....not kidding.

I watched FRISBEE today, fascinating. Also, we didnt eat for about 29 hours and have had no sleep since Thursday night. About to go to bed now.

We are playing in 2 church services in the morning. Should be great.

ok......bed : )
Ok, it's 5.30am, I'm in a truck stop in PA...I think, maybe Ohio!! Who knows these things? Bus needed a repair, so we lost some time. Were heading east to Mystic in CT.

We've had a great few days.....me and Johnny standing out in the electric storm at 3am, soaking it up....amazing. God moving at the gigs, kids getting saved....so so good.

We did a gig in Hastings Michigan last night. It was to raise funds for a soup kitchen there, it was an amazing night, God really moving, people getting saved all over the place etc etc....Great time

I am truly knackered and need to sleep....yawn.

looking forward to gig tonight. Have spent most of last 2 days talking to a label, which is really exciting. News to come as things develop!!

Wednesday, 13 May 2009

Well, we just did our 3rd gig on this tour. It was in Grand Blanc in Michigan. It took a day to get here through West Virginia and Ohio. We crossed into Michigan at about 1am, pulled into a Panera Bread car park and slept till about 9am. We had breakfast in Panera Bread ( good coffee & free refills ). Well, not for the 1st time, within a few minutes, people were chatting away to us and before long, we had the merch out....selling cd's : )  You gotta love America!

Well, tonight was great. Great crowd, great hosts, 14 young people responded to the gospel and another 12 came forward to re-commit themselves to God, also 2 people sponsored kids through Compassion, so thats 10 so far....which is great. We just got back from Red Robin Burger joint, bottomless fries!! Oh boy!

Just got back on the bus to discover the water heating element has burnt out and a guy is on the bus fixing it....trouble is, the heater is under MY BUNK!!! No sleep for timmy!

We are heading further west in the morning, to Hastings, nr Lansing. MI.

I spent most of the day talking to a record label....can't say any more, but it's an amazing thing if it comes off.

I'm truly knackered.....I NEED TO SLEEP NOW : )

I'm thinking about Leeds playing 2nd leg of play off tommorow at Elland Road, wish I was at home and could watch it.....COME ON LEEDS.

Mikey ate more food at Red Robin than anyone thought was humanly possible!! He IS going to barf on the freakin bus. ( not for the 1st time ).

Johnny and Gav are playing Nerf Wars!! It's 2am....poo.

We went to the local IMAX last night and watched Star Trek....I hate Star Trek. But, they did mention Titan ( one of saturns moons ) so that cheered me up ; )

STAFFORD

March 7th saw us travel to Blythe High School for a UK 'Bicycle Thieves' tour date. We were all in Dumfries the night before at a little get together at Mikeys place.

We loaded the van that night and set off early on Saturday morning. The journey was a good one, no crazy traffic or road rage metalness ( which we seem to attract )!

We arrive at 3.30pm, unload the gear ( up 3 flights of concrete stairs ) into the main school hall.

The PA guys seem cool, as does Chrissi, the promoter, and her team. We are plied with tea/coffee and set up begins.

Sound check goes well.

This is my time now, the art of 'setting up the merch'. I find it strangely comforting and agreeable. We have upgraded our merch boxes to 3 second hand suitcases from the 1960's, provided by Mikey ( well....his mum's charity shop anyway ). We need a backdrop thing that we can hang stuff from and attach lights to. I'm gonna make one!!

Haydon Spencely ( support act ) arrives at about 5pm for his sound check.

Everyone goes for food, I stay behind to find a moment to focus on what I think God wants me to say tonight and just spend a few moments praying. I find a wooden horse, gymnastics thing back stage, I lay down on it, start praying, fall asleep and fall off the wooded horse.....ouch!

There is a manic DJ at the start, which is busting my ear drums....I hate loud music!!

Good crowd in 150ish, Haydon does a good job. Gig goes well, 1 hour set, we play 9/10 of the new songs from the new album, they all go down well.

I preach the gospel at the end and the night is a success.

After the gig a methodist pastor tells me about a family that they had been praying for, they came to the gig, God really spoke to them through it and they spoke to the pastor after the event and told him they wanted to start coming back to church again, after about a year away, starting the next day....thank you God!

We leave about midnight, Mikey drives the first bit and we talk and laugh about our various trips to the USA....we have so many great stories from across the pond!

Get home about 5.45am!
